Guardian Program

Currently have three adult females eligible (while in the Guardian Program each of these females will have one more litter, then will be ALL YOURS and retired from our breeding program). Scroll below for information on the Guardian program and to see which females will be available. FYI, they will not be available to go to their Guardian home until June/July 2025.

Dayzee Mae Boxers is committed to all of our dogs and believe our dogs should live in a home environment and NOT a kennel setting. So, to ensure each of our breeding program dogs get all the love and attention they deserve we have enlisted our Guardian home program. As our breeding program expands, we will be on the search for new Guardian homes for our dogs. As a Guardian, full ownership is not transferred to you until the boxer retires from Breeding, when we and our Veterinarians agree to retire (usually around 4-5 years old), however once retired full ownership rights are then given to you. Read on for more info:

Guardian families are responsible for normal dog care, including, but not limited to, training, socialization, vet expenses food, grooming and lots of love and affection. Dayzee Mae Boxers pays for all breeding-related expenses.
The Guardian program helps provide a family that may not have the funds to purchase a boxer puppy into their family, or is wanting a older boxer that is already housebroken at no cost to you.
If at any time a puppy is available, it will be Dayzee Mae Boxers TOP choice (whether purchase or the “pick of the litter” ) that is personally chosen by us to live with their Guardian family.

Guardian Program
In order to be a Guardian Family, you must meet the following criteria:
 * Guardian home must be within an hour from Des Moines, IA. LOCATION IS HUGE! If you live further than an hour, it is negotiable however you MUST be willing to meet at minimum for breeding an hour from Des Moines, IA.
* Guardian home must not have any other dogs, unless otherwise agreed upon, however if we do agree, it MUST be of the opposite sex and spayed/neutered.
* Guardian home must have prior dog experience, preferably with a boxer but not required.
* Notify breeder AS SOON AS female comes into heat.
* Provide monthly photos and updates for our website.

* Bring the dog to Dayzee Mae Boxers (or deliver within an hour distance to Des Moines, IA) as needed for breeding's, and whelping.
*Willingness to follow guidelines, contract and recommendations set forth by Dayzee Mae Boxers
for dog’s basic veterinary care such as vaccine schedules, flea & tick protection etc.

The Guardian Program works like this: when we have a prospective breeding dog (could be male or female), we will look for a guardian home to place them in until they are ready to be bred. When the dog reaches breeding age (Females 2 years old, Males 1 year old), they will come back to our home to be bred when breeding needs to take place (could be up to a week give or take approximately for female or male) and will return to your house for the duration of their pregnancy, or for males returned home when done breeding with female.

Female breeding boxers come to us to be bred and then will return to you. When it is time for the birth, she will return to Dayzee Mae Boxers for the delivery, nursing, and weaning of the puppies approximately 2 weeks prior to her due date. Females usually reside with us for 8 weeks after their puppies are born. We do understand it is difficult for Guardian families to have their beloved girl gone for an extended amount of time. We do encourage and welcome families to visit their girl while she is with us but this is something you need to decide you are comfortable with before becoming a Guardian family. Female boxers typically retire from breeding when Veterinarian recommends, which is typically anywhere from 4-5 years old.

Male Guardian dogs leave their Guardian homes for very short periods of time to sire (breed a female), approximately for 1 week and typically retire from Breeding anywhere from 6-7 years old.

When the dog has completed our breeding program, it is to be spayed/neutered paid for by the Guardian family then full ownership is then transferred to Guardian family to live out the rest of their wonderful life.

We do have an application process, and a contract outlining all of the details, so if you are interested, email us for more information or an application. FYI established Veterinarian reference is required.

Medusa
She is 2 years old
She is a little shy when she first meets you but once she warms up she is absolutely the sweetest ever and LOVES attention! She is an absolutely stunning looking boxer!
She is super smart, listens well, could use some leash work but does well in kennel when you are not home. She is housebroke, but you would need to get her aquainted to your schedule, yard, etc as anyone should with a new dog. She will need to go to an only dog home. Once she has one litter under the guardianshp program, she will then be retired and be all yours furever!
